If the global human population continues to grow, will we eventually run out of food?

The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization estimates the global population will hit 9 billion by 2050 and this will the point in time when population growth exceeds the capacity for food growth.

Humanitarian organization Oxfam also predicts that the world will run out of food around 2050 when climate change, crop failures, and a rise in food prices for items like corn and rice will all contribute to the world’s population outpacing the amount of food it produces.

One major problem is meat. It’s an inefficient food source. For example, it takes 75 times more energy to produce meat than corn.
